Acid Reflux

Some people have great results with just drinking a couple of ounces of apple cider vinegar. It really puckers you up, but it's the simplest thing to try first. And for most people, it's a one-time remedy.

Or, before eating, try this simple trick to prevent the acids from backing up:

Drink 8 ounces of good water. When done, bounce up and down so that your feet leave the floor. Do this for about 5-10 seconds. This sloshes the water up against the esophageal valve and closes it. It also hydrates the lining of the stomach and esophagus. Both things help prevent reflux when you eat. You may have to do this before several meals before the reflux pattern is broken.

For longer-term healing, start taking a magnesium supplement with meals. Chelated magnesium is good, so is liquid. Magnesium helps restore the function of the valve to open and close when needed (it also helps with a wide variety of other ailments). Look at the picture of the pill on the next Prilosec commercial you see ... right there on the label is a form of magnesium, the active healing ingredient. It's less expensive -- and smarter -- to buy the supplement in a form which causes no side-effects.
