Maximize the Results of Your Guided Imagery Meditation

To get the most benefit from your guided imagery meditation session, follow these simple common-sense tips:

1. Wear headphones, if you do not have a private place to listen to the audio.

2. Close the door, if you have a private office or room.

3. Turn off your phone/cell phone so that you are not interrupted and have to start all over again.

4. Kick off your shoes, loosen your belt, tie and any other piece of clothing that may be binding or distracting. Get as comfortable as you can.

5. Drink some water. Like the battery in your car, your brain works better with water than without.

6. Sit up straight. It's amazing how many people don't know how to do this and strain themselves holding their bodies in unsupported positions. Here's how to make sure you're sitting up straight...
  • Lean forward until your elbows touch your legs.
  • Slide back in your seat until your butt hits the back of the chair. If your chair's surface doesn't let you slide, lift up and re-position your butt so it touches the chair back.
  • Sit up and notice how easy it feels when your "sit" bones are naturally supporting your torso.

7. Be curious. The door to the mind works better when open.
